First Steps!

Just wanted to share the first video we have of Raegan taking a few steps! She's been crawling since Dec. 5th, we think she'll be walking on her own very soon!

Changing times

So this morning when I dropped Raegan off at daycare, her friend Garrett (a boy at least 6 months older than her and about twice her size) ran up to her and kissed her on her cheek! First kiss at 10 months old, geez! :) Raegan turned 10 months old yesterday, I can't believe she's growing up SO fast! Right now she's walking around (holding on the ottoman) and munching on an animal cracker.

Seeing Raegan eating so many new foods, makes me think about how one day I won't have to pump anymore. I won't miss waking up in the middle of the night to sneak in an extra pumping session and trying to make just 2 more ounces for Raegan to take to daycare. I won't miss washing bottles every night. But I've been thinking about it and I think I'll really miss my pumping sessions (aka my alone time).

During the work week I have approx 2 hours of alone time each day. 30 minutes morning drive, which I usually spend signing worship songs and talking to the Lord, 30 minutes for lunch and my first pump break, another 30 minute pump break in the afternoon, and an approximately 30 minute drive home from work which I usually spend catching up with friends or family on my cellphone. Being a public auditor I don't have my own office, instead I work with many other people from our laptops usually in tiny, unairconditioned/unheated, windowless rooms with internet and power cords strung around. Being a new mom and newlywed there is never a time at home when I'm alone. Once I stop pumping I feel like that alone time will only diminish even more.

Philip wanted me to share that right now the Baylor men's basketball team is beating Kansas State (#15) who beat Texas (who was #1) earlier this month! Go Bears!

No more peanuts!

Wow, what a long week! Last night Philip, Raegan, and I went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse, because Philip was craving peanuts and a good steak. We were surprised by how busy it was, we had to wait over 30 minutes. Raegan was entertaining, waving and smiling at all the other guests waiting to be seated. Once while Philip was holding her she even got a hold of a ladies pretty curly hair! The lady didn't seem to mind that our daughter was yanking at her curls though, lol!

Raegan has gotten so much better about eating foods! She still won't let us feed her anything, but if we set it in front of her she'll go after it.

When Raegan was like 5-8 weeks old she seemed to be colicky every evening, until one week she wasn't. We thought she had grown out of it, but then the next week it started back up. I figured out that the one week she hadn't been colicky was the one week when I forgot to buy peanuts at the grocery store. (Right after I had Raegan I was downing peanuts multiple times a day, thinking they'd be a good source of protein, since nursing and very little sleep were draining me of energy! ) We talked with the doctor about it and she said its possible Raegan may have a peanut sensitivity and that when I was eating them it was bothering her. So last night (nearly 8 months later) we went to Texas Roadhouse and I had a couple peanuts. BAD IDEA!
Raegan was up multiple times during the night crying and nothing would soothe her except softly bouncing her and walking around, so that's what I did for a long time last night. Then she calmed down and I set her in her swing in her room for a little while, and laid on the floor in case she needed me. 20 - 30 minutes later she was throwing up. Needless to say it was a VERY long night and I may have got 4 hours or so of sleep. This morning when Philip woke us up to say bye before he left for work, he was like why is she wearing different clothes? Must be nice to sleep through the night, I thought to myself.

So we're taking it easy today, its actually after lunch on Saturday and I'm still in pajamas, but I did do some serious cleaning this morning around the house and Raegan and I have watched Baby Signing Time at least 6 times this morning!
See the sign behind Raegan and I in the picture... I'll remember that next time!

Update: Raegan is all better! yea! We think it must have been a stomach bug because Philip and I each had a dose of it ourselves after Raegan got better... and actually Raegan still has an ear infection. A friend of mine said that we should drip garlic oil in her ear to get rid of the ear infection, has anyone else heard of that before?

This was my first week of busy season, but since I'm on a flexible work arrangement it wasn't bad at all. It really helps that Philip can be so flexible, he picked up Raegan from daycare all week. He also took her in to the doctor for a follow up appointment on Thursday. She weighed 17lbs and 9oz (20th percentile) and was 27 3/4 inches long (45th percentile). She really hasn't grown since she was about 5 months old, but the doctors told us not to worry about it.

This week Raegan has been practicing her wave often! She'll wave with both hands most of the time her hands are palms up when she does it though. Every morning when she wakes up and Philip and I are still pressing snooze she says "up", "up", "uuuhhpp"!

Right now we are snuggled up watching our Baylor Bears men's basketball team. Earlier this week we watched our girl's team beat OU! Raegan thinks its funny when Philip hollars at the tv and we have been known to throw up a bear claw, its ok in the privacy of your home (Philip didn't like when I did it at Ikea once though).

Well Miss Raegan just woke up so I have to go... until next time.

Sick Baby

Picture from Raegan's 6 month old photoshoot (about 3 months ago)
Well you probably wouldn't guess it if you saw her but Raegan has been very sick the past couple of days. She's still smiling and laughing like always, but occasionally usually soon after she eats she has been vomiting. :( We took her to the doctor on Saturday and she still has an ear infection, but he didn't seem concerned about the fact that she threw up 6 times that morning prior to seeing him!?! Saturday evening I called the triage nurse at the hospital and spoke to her about it and she suggested limiting the duration of her feedings, which has helped some but not completely. This has made for some very long nights and lots of loads of laundry! We are going to her pediatrician today and hopefully we will get some answers!

I'll try to keep you updated amidst all of our busyness!
