Walkin' & talkin'

This video was taken a couple weeks ago...
What a wonderful Sunday afternoon! Right now Raegan is sleeping on my chest and Philip is napping right here next to me on the couch, as I watch Julie & Julia. This movie is making me super hungry! Luckily, we have stew cooking in the crockpot right now for dinner.

Raegan had a hearing test done Thursday morning, which she failed. She turned when she heard words, like her name, but didn't react to tones until they were very loud. The doctors said she might not have responded to the tones because they aren't normal in her environment, but they suspect it is due to fluid in her ears from her repeated ear infections. We have an appointment next Thursday for them to put tubes in her ears. Even though its a very standard surgery, please keep the doctors and Raegan in your prayers. Hopefully after the surgery she won't have all these painful ear infections and we won't have to force her to take antibiotics all the time!

Yesterday we took Raegan to her first Baylor sporting event. We went and saw the men's basketball team beat OU. Philip's friend/Operator of the Chick-fil-A here in Moore, Brian, shared his tickets with us. So we sat in the middle of a bunch of OU fans, who kept telling Raegan she was wearing the wrong colors, but other than that they were very nice!

Last night we went to the Winter Jam Tour to see New Song, the Newsboys, Third Day, Sidewalk Prophets, etc... The doors opened at 5, but the concert didn't start until 6, and we got there just after 6. They were still letting people in, but there were hundreds of people in the hallways and lobby areas outside of the concert arena who couldn't find a seat. It took us about 30 minutes but we finally found 2 seats between lots of teenie boppers. We stayed there for a couple of songs, but decided it was just too loud for Raegan's little ears! We decided it wasn't worth staying, on our way out the door they were refunding people their money as they had clearly over sold the Ford Center. So at least we got our money back, since we didn't get to see the concert.

This weekend seemed to go by so fast! I'm working on clearing pictures/videos off of my camera so its likely you'll see some most posts soon!

When dad's away, the girls will play =)

Philip has been in DC for the past couple of days for CFA seminar, so Raegan and I have been hanging out together. Raegan started feeling better on Tuesday after we got her a different type of antibiotic for her ear infection on Monday. We have an island in the middle of our kitchen, which has legs and is movable so you can see underneath it as well. I realized that Raegan was crawling around the island following my feet as I was walking around cleaning up. So then we both played on our hands and knees chasing each other around the island and playing peek-a-boo as she would turn the corner and I would sneak up behind her from the other side. We had so much fun. Surprisingly we've also both been sleeping really well since Philip's been gone, I think its because we both have so much room in our bed. But we both really missed Philip and are glad he's back home now!

He had a great time at seminar and brought me some CFA shirts home and showed me some funny videos of Tim Hawkins from seminar. Last year I went with him to California for seminar, but this year with Raegan and still being in busy season at work, I just wasn't able to go with him :( Next year seminar is going to be in San Antonio. That's where Philip and I got engaged, I'd love to go back and spend a couple of days there with him!

We're cheering for the Baylor Bears tonight, they are playing the aggies, GO BEARS!

Better than a Hallelujah by Amy Grant

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NW7xBDmrEFs

Love this song, check it out!

Wow what a week! After such an eventful weekend, I was exhausted this week, yet I decided to work later each day so that next week I can leave early and pick up Raegan while Philip is at seminar. Thankfully I have a wonderful husband, who picked up Raegan and made dinner each night before I got home!

We got a call Wednesday afternoon from the daycare (I dread seeing their number come up on my phone). Raegan had a 102 temp and they wanted us to come pick her up. Philip was able to leave work and get her and she slept on his chest until I got home. She ran a high fever that whole evening, but it was gone in the morning and she seemed fine so we took her to daycare on Thursday. Before I even got to work the daycare called and said her temp was 101.5 and that I needed to come get her and she shouldn't come back until her fever had been gone for 24 hours. So I went into work and picked up some document so that I could work from home and then went to pick her up from daycare. By the time I got there she wasn't running a fever, but I went ahead and set up a doctor appt for her just in case. At the doctor we found out she has an ear infection in both ears. It was just like 2 weeks ago that her last one went away. At that last appt the doctor gave Philip a prescription that we could put Raegan on antibiotics for 6 -8 weeks as a preventative so that she wouldn't get another ear infection. I thought the idea was silly, why would I put my baby on meds when she was just fine. I paid the price for that one, because she already has ear infections again! Raegan has tried so many antibiotics, it seems like they change to a different one with each ear infection. This time they gave her a shot of Rocephin on Thursday and we started the oral medicine, Azithromycin, Friday evening. Philip stayed home with Raegan on Friday since she still wasn't feeling well. Friday night we tried the first dose of Azithromycin and less than an hour later, Raegan threw up. Philip called the doctor Saturday morning who said to stop giving Raegan the oral medicine and that we need to take her in for two more shots of the Rocephin on Monday and Tuesday. She also said she would give us a reference for an ear, nose, & throat doctor, because we think Raegan would benefit from getting tubes in her ears. I've read about the procedure and it only takes like 15 minutes and she won't be at the hospital except for a couple hours. If possible we are going to try to get it done this week.
I'm not sure if its because she's been sick or if she's just going through a phase, but Raegan has had severe separation anxiety this week. If either Philip or I walk out of the room, she starts bawling. Its been really hard leaving her at daycare, because she used to be so happy and not mind at all when we left her at daycare. Now I just walk from our living room to the study and she starts crying as if she'll never see me again :( My solution has been to wear her in a sling so that I can still get things done and she stays happy :)

Raegan and I went to Nakona's (a little boy in her class at daycare) 1st birthday party on Saturday. He had a spiderman party and we got her spiderman pajamas and a spiderman hat. Raegan desperately wanted a piece of cake and was grabbing people's plates at the party trying to get to it, but I only let her have animal crackers. She'll get her first taste of cake at her first birthday party. I've been trying to plan her party for awhile now. I was hoping to reserve a room at the library and have it there, but when I called Saturday all the rooms at the Moore Library are booked for every Saturday and Sunday through the end of April! :/ so now I'm not sure what to do? I think having it inside our house would be too crowded and noisy! I'd love to have it outside, but there's no guarantee that we will have nice weather. So I'm still debating on a location... any suggestions will be appreciated! We plan on having a birthday party for her here in Oklahoma with her friends and then one in Texas with family, while we are there for David and Stephanie's wedding.

Hope you all had a great week... I think I just heard a chicken in our backyard!

Valentine's weekend 2010

I know you are all (well at least my mom) dying to find out what we did for Valentine's. Above is a pic from our hotel room's balcony. The street sign says "Sherman," I'm not sure about that funny looking statue, and if you look way in the back past the overpass is the Clinton Presidential Library. If you still haven't guessed it, we went to Little Rock, AR. Just to visit the town and spend some time together.

We stayed downtown and strolled the area. The picture below is of me and Raegan at Bath Junkie, where I made (and Philip bought) an amazing, peppermint/vanilla exfoliating salt scrub!
During our stroll downtown we enjoyed a great lunch at the Flying Burrito. Below is a pic of the surprise waiting in our hotel room.
That evening before dinner we walked down to the Peabody hotel to watch the legendary duck march inside the hotel.

We ate at a Japanese steakhouse for dinner and met an interesting couple from the area.
On Sunday we ate a delicious breakfast at the hotel and then took Raegan swimming. She loves the water and kicks her legs like a little frog in the water!

We also visited the 3 story mall , the Container Store, and the Clinton Presidential Library while we were there. It started to snow before our flight was scheduled to leave, so Philip talked the gate agent into lettting us get on an earlier flight to Dallas. In the Love Field airport, we met a couple from Enid who are looking into moving to Midland/Odessa. The husband is a trauma surgeon and the Odessa hospital is apparently in need of one. They had a 5 year old little girl who played well with Raegan and one more on the way! Raegan was so friendly in the airport! She gave both the little girl and the mom hugs, talked/waved to strangers, and held hands with a 7 month old boy on the airplane seat behind us! I wanted to sanitize her whole body when we got home, but I was too exhausted!

Well its time for bed, Raegan is in her crib for the 2nd night in a row (well to start out at least), who knows how long this will last!

Awaiting Surprise...

About a month ago Philip sent me this text message...

Needless to say it was the best text I got all day! So I have asked a few questions:
Is Raegan going to be with us? yes
Are we driving or flying? flying
When are we leaving? Saturday
Do bags fly free? Yes (I love Southwest!)

Anyways so that's about all I know... I'm excited that its a surprise so I haven't been trying too hard to figure it out.

Our little girl is a big talker, here are a couple of pics of her talking on the "phone. "

In the photo above our little lady is on Philip's iphone.

In this one she has her phone, aka an old cell phone without service that we let her play with.

And this one she is on her Elmo phone which she got from Nana Houdyshell. Elmo says different phrases like, "What's up, Raegan?" She loves talking to Elmo!

We also took a couple new videos of Raegan walking, she gets better every day... videos will be posted soon.

I like this song!

Really like this new song by David Crowder - check it out

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realise just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all

Yeah, He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves.

We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
So Heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way…

He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.
Yeah, He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves us,
Whoa! how He loves.

Love the weekends!

When I got home from work Friday, this is what is on my kitchen table, and no he didn't get confused and think this weekend was Valentine's ;)
Philip is such a sweetie! I also thought I'd share a few bathtime pics of Miss Raegan. Raegan loves bathtime; in fact, she loves it so much she cries when I take her out. One of our friends suggested letting the water out and then taking her out to see if that helped. Last time I tried that it worked, but tonight when I pulled out the plug and started letting the water out Raegan just decided to plug it back, lol! What a stinker!
I love baby eye lashes, so long and pretty!

Splish, Splash Raegan's taking a bath!
